Fuerteventura Holidays

Kicking back in Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura Holidays - Kicking Back in Fuerteventura

In Fuerteventura, it’s good to take your time about things. There is no need to rush. No need to plan. And there is a tangible sensation of time slowing down to be at pace with your holiday needs. One of the most chilled out ways to spend a day or two on the second largest of the Canary Islands, is by kicking back on the sands, dosing up on sun tan lotion and cooling down with the odd seaside dip from time to time.

Fuerteventura Holidays - Kicking Back in Fuerteventura

You are likely to find yourself spoilt for choice on each of the island’s coastlines. But the beaches of Fuerteventura do have their own strengths and characteristics and different stretches of sand will suit different kinds of holiday makers. So when planning a holiday with Thomas Cook or another such Fuerteventura holidays facilitator, you will be in a better position to specify certain areas of the island for accommodation and excursions if you know what each one has to offer.

Fuerteventura Holidays - Corralejo

Kicking back in Fuerteventura

Corralejo, on the very northern tip of the island, is a particular favourite for those travelling with children. It has a well-earned reputation for being one of the safest beaches on Fuerteventura. Its family-friendly status has also discouraged many of the naturists on the island that are frequent visitors to other seaside locations nearby.

Fuerteventura Holidays - El Cotillo

Kicking back in Fuerteventura

El Cotillo and the beach directly to the south of it are easily Fuerteventura’s largest sandscapes. Even in peak season and at crowded times you are sure to find plenty of space on the sand for yourself and your travel companions. Because of the size of the cove in which the beach is based, the waves here also tend to be a little larger which means care must be taken while swimming. Another perk of El Cotillo is that it is well connected to the rest of the island via Fuerteventura’s public transport network.

A short boat ride will bring you to Lobos Island where the beaches are reported to be the calmest and coolest in the area. If it’s pure peace and quiet and unadulterated tranquillity that you’re after, this is the beach for you. Just be sure to get there soon before word gets out.
